Funny little story from this weekend... I went to this housewarming party on Saturday, at my friend’s D. She bought the house about a year ago and has fully transformed it to look pretty amazing right now.
D is a very charming woman with a pretty varied circle of friends from many different areas in her life; this means that I did not know many of the people at the party. Anyways, at some point I saw this guy who looked incredibly familiar, but not matter how much I tried to think and place him, I was unable to do it. When I finally made it to start chatting with him, I could not hold myself and had to
ask. Yes, I looked familiar to him too…
Me: Where do you work?
Him (E): I work at XX
Me: my friend GP works there
E: GP is my boss…. How do you know him?
Me: he also plays in this band, the Os, and I have several friends who play or have played with them.
E: Yes!! MH!!!! (third person who also used to play, many many years ago, with The Os) - He was my roommate in Grad School and one of my best friends. This is how I know you!
Me: Wow... Yes... MH and I dated on and off for about three years... But I do not remember meeting you at Grad School...
E: That is because you arrived to Grad School right about when I was leaving...
Me: ...???... So... how did I meet you?
E: ... not sure ... Did you go to MH’s engagement party?
Me: yes, I was there.
E: I was there too. I also went to his wedding overseas. I was the only one from his friends who actually attended… And I went with D (the host), who was my girlfriend at the time and for 4 years.
Me: huh... the world is really small -- D!!! You went to the wedding of my ex of three years!
D: huh?!?
... Then, after I shared the full story with D, she proceeded to try to fix me up with E (her ex of 4 years, and very close friend of my ex of 3 years)…. To which I graciously declined. Nothing wrong with the guy; but... com’on, wouldn’t this be a little too much sharing?

Oh, wowwwww! That's nuts! And very, very cool. (I agree with you; I think that's too many connections as well.) :)
that's crazy. i love finding connections like that, but i don't think i've ever had one that... thorough :)
Truth being stranger than fiction, one of the people I met at that same party was another former Marine. He and I shared some time in common at the same base and worked less than a mile apart. The really strange thing is one of the guys who worked for him was my recruiter. D has a wide and varied group of friends.
Zan, I know, right?
Alice, no kidding, that was pretty shocking, almost too close for comfort
Foggy, we are going to have to interrogate D to find out where she gets her friends from.
